You just got the acceptance email for your family—your kids are officially part of a homeschool co-op! The excitement is real, but so is the question: Now what?
Your co-op has probably given you a website login and sent you a welcome message. But between the schedule, the fee payments, the class assignments, and the announcements, it can feel like a lot. Where do you even start?
Good news: your co-op website is designed to make your life easier, not harder. Everything you need to know about the co-op—when classes meet, what to pay, who teaches what, and important announcements—is right there in one place. You just need to know where to look.
Step 1: Log In and Explore the Dashboard
Your first stop is always the dashboard or home page. This is your command center. Log in with the username and password your co-op sent you, and take a breath—you’re in.
From the dashboard, you should see:
- Recent announcements — Important updates from your co-op director or teachers
- Your family’s class schedule — What your kids are taking and when they meet
- Upcoming events — Field trips, assembly days, social events
- Quick action buttons — Payments, forms, messages
This page is your hub. Bookmark it and check it at least once a week during the co-op year. Most important announcements get posted here first.
Step 2: Find Your Family’s Schedule
The schedule is usually one click away—look for a button labeled “Schedule,” “My Schedule,” or “Classes.”
Here’s what you’ll see:
- The days and times your family is expected to attend
- Which classes or classes your children are enrolled in
- Who teaches each class
- Room numbers or meeting locations
Pro tip: Screenshot or print this schedule and post it on your fridge. Better yet, add these dates and times to your family calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook, whatever you use). This is your golden ticket to never being late and never forgetting a co-op day.
If your schedule looks wrong—a class your kid isn’t taking, a time that doesn’t work for your family—reach out to your co-op director right away. Schedule changes are easier to make in the first week than later on.
Step 3: Update Your Family Profile
Find the “My Profile” or “Family Profile” section. This is where you share important information with your co-op director and teachers:
- Current phone numbers and email addresses
- Emergency contacts
- Any allergies, medical needs, or learning accommodations
- Your children’s birthdates and grade levels
Take 10 minutes to fill this out completely and accurately. This information helps your co-op run smoothly and ensures that in an emergency, the right people can reach you quickly.
Keep it updated: If your phone number changes, a child develops a new allergy, or you move, update your profile right away. Your co-op director and teachers rely on this information.
Step 4: Understand How to Pay Fees
Most co-ops charge fees—either a flat membership fee, per-class fees, or a combination. Your website should have a clear “Fees,” “Payments,” or “Billing” section.
Look for:
- A breakdown of what you owe and when it’s due
- Accepted payment methods (credit card, bank transfer, check, etc.)
- A deadline date
- Instructions for late or partial payments (if applicable)
Most co-op websites let you pay directly online—it’s usually faster and easier than writing a check. If you’re having trouble, check for an FAQ section or contact your director.
Calendar reminder: Mark the payment deadline on your calendar so you don’t forget. Most co-ops are understanding if you’re a day or two late, but getting ahead means one less thing to stress about.
Step 5: Check the Announcements Section Regularly
This is where your co-op director shares updates: schedule changes, late-breaking info, special events, policy reminders, or volunteer opportunities.
Set a habit: Check announcements at least once a week, or more often if your co-op is very active. You might also be able to subscribe to email notifications so updates come to your inbox instead of you having to check the site.
If you see an announcement that requires action from you (like signing up for a volunteer slot or submitting a form), do it right away—don’t wait.
Step 6: Know Who to Contact
Your website should have a “Staff,” “Contact Us,” or “Directory” page with the names and contact info for:
- The co-op director
- Office staff
- Your children’s teachers
- Committee coordinators or group leaders
Bookmark this page or write down the director’s phone number and email. You won’t need it often, but when you do, you’ll be glad you have it handy.

You’ve Got This
It might feel like a lot at first glance, but once you’ve walked through these steps, using your co-op website becomes second nature. Most families check in once a week, catch the schedule, see what’s new, and move on with their day.
If you get stuck at any point—you can’t log in, you can’t find the schedule, the website feels confusing—your co-op director has helped dozens of families navigate this. Reach out and ask. That’s what they’re there for.
Welcome to the co-op! You’re going to have a wonderful year.
